Cold weather gear is a layering problem, not a warmth problem. A baselayer that moves moisture, a midlayer that holds heat, and a shell that stops wind will beat one heavy coat in almost every condition, and lets you shed a layer when the afternoon turns.

Everything here is gear our staff use themselves. Down and synthetic jackets, vests, flannels, baselayers, insulated boots, hats and gloves, from The North Face, Patagonia, Cotopaxi, Osprey and more.

We've been outfitting people since 1974 from our stores in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Northshore. Fifty years in a wet southern climate taught us something useful: wind and damp do more than the thermometer suggests, and the right layers matter more than the thickest one.
